special visitors...
Room #209, along with the other 5th grade classrooms, welcomed some special guests on Tuesday, May 23rd. Several teachers and staff (and even a student) from 6th Grade at Farnsworth visited to perform Reader's Theater for our students. We started this tradition three years ago, and it has been so awesome, we just couldn't stop doing it!

Field trip to the sheboygan county historical museum-civil war
Room #209 4th and 5th graders took a trip back in time to the era of the Civil War last week when we visited the Sheboygan County Historical Museum. Students learned more about the history of the Civil War, specifically how Sheboygan was affected. Our historians even enlisted as soldiers themselves, and spent the day learning and practicing what it was like to be a soldier during that time. If you get a chance, ask your child about the Chickory Coffee. It was definitely a highlight (or lowlight, depending on who you ask).
twin day!
Junior Achievement
Students just completed their Junior Achievement sessions this past week, where we discussed Our Nation, especially the things that make up a business, different career clusters, and the global marketplace, to name a few. A big thank you goes out to Nick Banko from Alliant Energy, Nash's dad, who led these sessions with the economists in Room #209. The students really enjoyed their time with Mr. Banko. To culminate their work, each student received a certificate and shook Mr. Banko's hand. Thanks again Mr. Banko!
Room #209 shark tank
Student entrepreneurs worked very hard to come up with their innovation to solve a problem at school, and then pitch their ideas to our very own "sharks," which consisted of six parents who gave an hour of their afternoon. Thank you to those who visited. The students were very excited about presenting and did an awesome job!
Farnsworth students presenting to room #209
On Friday, December 1st, Farnsworth 6th and 7th graders visited our classroom to present their research on Candy, as well as demonstrate to students how to make slime (both edible and inedible). The middle school students spent months researching, preparing, and presenting these presentations as a part of their WIN time. They did an awesome job!
Hmong new year presentation to jackson 4th and 5th graders
Students from North High School came to Jackson school on Monday, November 20th for a presentation to the 4th and 5th graders on Hmong culture and Hmong New Year. Mya and Tim V. joined in a play to help teach the students more about culture and heritage of the Hmong culture.
Room #209 Artists visited JMKAC last week to tour the museum and try their hand at creating unique signs to resemble some of the exhibits.

Jackson Jumpstart!
Every morning, all Jackson students start their day with 7-10 minutes of movement to get their brains warmed up for a busy day of learning. On the morning of Wednesday, September 20th, Room #209's very own Chase P. and Juliana W. helped lead the whole school!
"it's all in how you look at things"
To continue to build our classroom community, students worked in groups to discuss how understanding different perspectives in our world can lead to better understanding of those around us. We read an excerpt from the book "The Phantom Tollbooth" to help with this activity.
On Friday, September 8th, we worked on owning our problems as a classroom community and brainstormed ways we can work together to solve any issues that may come our way.
