Just a reminder that our annual Jackson School Brat Fry will be this Friday, September 29th, from 4:30-7:30. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Family Movie Night Theme Basket, volunteered their time at the event, or has volunteered to make baked goods. A reminder that if you are making a baked good, please get those in to the main office by Thursday, September 28th (or ASAP). Looking forward to seeing all of the families at the event. I will be working the Potty Toss game starting at 4:30 with my sons (for as long as they stick with me).

With our first field trip coming up next week, I wanted to remind all parents that our class will be taking all of the 5th grade field trips this year. Our Science and Social Studies units will be focusing on the 5th grade curriculum, and our field trips are aligned with these subject areas. Next year, the current 4th graders will then go on the 4th grade Field Trips next year, aligning with the Science and Social Studies that will be taught next year. Please let me know if you have any questions.
All students in Room #209 will be traveling to the Sheboygan County Marsh next week Monday (9/25) and Tuesday (9/26) all day. We will leave promptly at 9:00am and return to school around 2:30pm. Below is a list of materials that each child should bring each day for our trip:
In previous years the Brat Fry Crew would typically have volunteer sign-up sheets available at registration where parents could sign up for grilling, games, etc. With not having an in person registration this year, we switched to online volunteer sign-up and are having a hard time reaching as many parents.
The Brat Fry is two weeks away and we are still seeking out volunteers to help with this wonderful event. The link is below to sign up. Please contact me or Laura Donnelly ((920) 841-0975 (Cell), [email protected]) with any questions. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a45aca828a7fd0-2017 A Field Trip Permission Form will be sent home today for our Marsh Field Trip coming up on 9/25 and 9/26. Attached to the permission slip is also a note regarding how your child will be taking a lunch that day. Please return that slip with the permission slip so we can have an accurate lunch count for our field trip. More information will be coming regarding what those days will look like.
Also, we will be STAR 360 Testing this week Wednesday (Math) and Thursday (Reading). This is a mandatory assessment for the district for all students grades 2 and up. This brief 30 minute test will help to give me information about what your child knows in the areas of Reading and Math so that I can maximize our learning in Room #209. I will be using this information to drive my small group instruction with students in Guided Reading and Math Workshop. It will be important that your child gets plenty of sleep the night before both testing days, as well as eats a healthy and well-rounded breakfast. If you have any questions, please let me know. |
