Room #209 has recently started adding a morning affirmation into our daily routine prior to starting our day. This affirmation is designed to get our minds ready for a positive, productive day at school. Research has shown that students who start their days with positive self-talk do better socially, emotionally, and academically. Below is the affirmation, called "I Am Somebody" that we recite each morning following our Jackson Jumpstart, and prior to going to Art, Music, or Gym:
I Am Somebody I am somebody I am capable and loveable I am teachable and therefore I can LEARN I can do anything when I try I'll be the best I can be Each Day Each Day Each Day I will not waste time Because it's too valuable And I am too precious and bright I am somebody I am somebody I am somebody I encourage you to talk to your child about how this positive self-talk is impacting their day at school. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Mr. Krause! Studies on happiness and mindfulness show great change when POSITIVE self-talk is used daily. I have been meaning to incorporate this practice into our home. This is the perfect reminder to me to jumpstart the practice in our home! Once again thank you for your wholistic teaching style!
