Families,
Our classroom will begin FORWARD testing next week. This is the test all 3-8 grade students statewide take annually in Reading and Math. In addition to Reading and Math, all 4th grade students will have two tests in Science and Social Studies each. Below is our schedule for testing: Monday April 9th- ALL Reading Sections (4) Tuesday April 10th- ALL Math Sections (2) Friday April 13th- 4th Graders Science Session 1 during Music Monday April 16th- 4th Graders Science Session 2 Tuesday April 17th-4th Graders Social Studies Session 1 Wednesday April 18th-4th Graders Social Studies Session 2 during Music Please note that while the 4th graders are missing Music, Mrs. Gliem will be using that time to rehearse 5th Grade Recognition songs with the 5th graders. On these days of testing, it is very important that students eat a healthy breakfast, and get plenty of sleep the night before. These tests are important to your child's growth in school, and by taking these simple steps, your child will be better prepared. Throughout the past few weeks, we have been learning about some important test taking strategies that will also help your child do their best on this and any other test. They are: 1) Be Prepared 2) Reframe your thinking about tests 3) Good listeners stop, look, and listen 4) Tests are not meant to be scary 5) Study day-by-day (don't cram the night before) 6) Watch the time 7) Relax with deep breathing 8) Think positive thoughts 9) Prepare your body with nutritious foods, regular exercise, and adequate rest 10) Read carefully, answer easy ones first, and CHECK OVER YOUR WORK One additional note: there is a listening session during the Reading section of the test. Please make sure you send a pair of headphones with your child next Monday, if they don't already have a pair here at school. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. Mr, Krause :)
